The dragon logo went to a surgery it appears.
You know what? I've been wondering that the reason why the MKX dragon is different could be because it represents some specific Elder God or character. Mind you - the MK dragon symbol is a depiction of an Elder God, in its pure form. So as to why it is a unique dragon in MKX's case might be because the boss of the game could turn out to be an Elder God, be it Shinnok (Fallen Elder God), Raiden (resigned Elder God) or someone else.
Of course however there is the chance that the logo is just a refurbished model of the classic logo in honor of "the next generation" but this is regardless a viable possibility undeniably.
